Like presumably most people I am trying to be a decent being. I am way too wastful in a lot of ways, but I keep trying to amend my ways. Somethings I accept as being my personal sins, but mostly I weigh the benefit I reap against the harm that is done. And truthfully I doubt I am making a more than moderate impact for a person living in this country. BUT I do buy fair trade when I can afford it and I do buy at least fresh meat from animals raised in an appropriate fashion. I do for instance NOT buy eggs from farms who *raise the hens on the ground* since I have foiund out what that entails.

Water is something I feel peculiar about. I am picky when it comes to drinking it because I seem to have (a) badly trained and (b) lots of them meaning especially taste sensitive taste buds. I have been addicted to sugar probably ever since I was three and added caffeine when I studies for my bar exam. So - naturally- I drink coke. I know it is bad for me on all kinds of levels, my not so willowy figur being one of them. BUt I had some rough times emotionally and I had decided to put getting rid of this bad habit (and it is bad, unhealthy, expensive and a very bad example to my kids) on the back burner.

FLOW

It is a documentary on the world situation on pure water. NOw on some level I had been aware of most of the facts that have been accumulated in this  movie (though When I picked it I had thought it would be about the state of mind) I had just not put them together  in this manner. Lots of these facts I learned in school and had - somewhat naively - thought as being adressed and remedied. others in my studies of environmental law or my time at the forest stewartship council. In short: I think I knew what they were talking about and thus I believe those facts that they have put forward that I had been unaware of.

Like how bottled water is lowering the groundwater levels THIS substancially.
Like what environmental justice means when it comes to big money in the water segment.
Coca Cola has apparently done some great harm to some Indian villages water supply. Note how I use the term *apparently*. I am NOT sure that I know all the facts. I cannot testify to the accuracy of this opinion of mine. I am just saying that from the moment on that I saw these pictures and got the connection. Coke soured literally in my mouth. Now I glass of tabwater stands on my table and I am trying to start getting used to it. It will take a while. And I have no clue if I am good enough a person to gho through with this. BUt If I do its win win win. and the only loser would the the red company (and yes I know they do supply jobs and are a vertitable economic factor and we are in an economic spiral that apparently only the consumer can remedy but you know. I don't just buy cigarettes to supply work for Camel either. If the consumer can be repsonsible for getting us out of the mess big money got us in then I can as well use what little power I have to avoid Nestle and Coca Cola as well as I can (and they are making it terribly hard))

As I said. It really f''+#+#*s up your life if you know what you are doing.

BTW this is just what happened to me. I don't expect it from anybody else, but the movie is worth seeing in any case
