After many sad and frustrating experiences (yes, occasionally VERY frustrating) my husband has built a bed. I am convinced it will withstand everything it is surprisingly pretty beside functional - and it doesn't squeek. NO-sound-bed now needs a cover to match its greatness. I am planning trapunto/quilting. one color, green and yes it will be cotton (I mean everybody agrees it was around but not used for clothes which made me wonder: where did all that precious cotton go ? I decided it went into OUR bedcovering ;))
so now I have two seriously big batches of green dyed cotton and the padding, next step is the design. I learnt my lesson with my first stag and refilsaumpiece. NO Sketching. Do it right and do it properly when symmetry is playing a part in your design. I now almost *Hate* the stag that convinced us that we want it in our device in some form or other. it is nothing but a poor halfling of a stag and it is not at all symmetrical and NOT in a good way. so this is the preliminary sketches

The stag will cover most of the center and it will be flanked by two rearing unicorns (I Hope that because it is ONE color it will not turn out terribly corny) and this is the current unicorn design:

I am currently contemplating ALMOST*merging* the crown of the stag with a tree and instead of a circle outlining the stag and dividing teh quilt have the upper half taken up by a tree with birds and oaks and apples and maybe even squirrels... It know it sounds almost too much for one piece but what can I say? It is THE ultimate bed and the one color thingy will take care of the *lack of absrack and surplus of concrete* motives. I hope. Pluss the end result is to cover a more than king sized bed. I love to hear input so far I have only quilted with patchwork.
