On the Issue of Children

We are born free, but some, with birth, become caged. It is a cage created from love. A dangerous construct, threatening your very existence. As most things conceived in passion, it is unexpected. It is restrictive for a while. And it taunts you with the knowledge that somewhere inside, there is a key. A key to something big. Sometimes, you feel you just need to get out of that cage, feel the invisible bars moving in on you, crushing your chest, making it impossible to breathe. And on some days, you just feel safe inside it. Almost content in the certainty that you are in the presence of the key.
And then, she walks in, mischievous grin on her perfect little face. And none of it matters.
